I recently got married in December of 2011 and have been looking forward to sharing my pictures and inspiration on the Polka Dot Invitations blog! I wanted my wedding to embody glam, a little bit of glitz and most importantly, love. My favorite parts of the wedding were some of the smallest details; the rose gold toasting glasses, a gold polka dotted bow and my grandmother’s fur coat.
To accent the arches in my ceremony space, I hung a wreath made of baby’s breath in the center and mercury glass lanterns filled with flowers on the side. At the reception, my centerpieces were a mix of short and tall floral arrangements, accented with succulents, gold votive candle holders and bundles of baby’s breath. I was determined to have gold vases, so I ordered glass vases online and spray painted them gold, which ended up being less expensive than renting!
Over my year-long engagement, I snatched up anything metallic, glittery, mercury glass or rose gold that I could find. I also created a lot; the stir sticks with gold pom poms were one of my many do-it-yourself crafts. Money saving tip: re-use your bridesmaid bouquets as some of the floral arrangements.
We sent our guests off with hot cocoa favors and they sent us off with fake snow as “Let it Snow” played in the background.
